Miscellaneous 2016 and before

You will be pleased to see that repair works have progressed to the stage where we can now return to having our services in the Church.  The front doors are open to welcome all who wish to join us.

“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” Romans 15:7

An extrodinary meeting of Kirk Sessions from Caler and Old Monkland, will be held at 7pm on Tuesday 31 October 2017, within Calder Church.  This is a crucial meeting and as many Elders as possible are urged to attend as a discussion will be held in relation to the Minister Vacancy.

The next regular Kirk Session meeting will be held on Wednesday 15 November at 7pm.

These meetings are extremely important,  and members are encouraged to attend.

Church in Bo’ness gets digital with new app innovation 29 January 2014An innovative new way for people to enhance their spiritual well-being has been devised by a church in Bo’ness. The first ever app for Iphone and Android devices to emanate from a Church of Scotland parish – titled Sanctuary First – is now available for people across the globe to download and connect with the Christian faith. The Very Reverend Albert Bogle – who was Moderator of the Church of Scotland between 2012 and 2013 – has been one of a group of digital innovators based at St Andrew’s Church in the Falkirk area. He said: “We’re not saying this is the way forward for the Church of Scotland but it certainly is one way. “The digital age is here and we should embrace it and use the benefits it can bring.” Commuters can now listen to engaging meditations on a variety of themes in bite-sized formats which include bereavement, journeys and temptations. “It’s been designed to enhance the faith of Christians in a world where people seem to have less time to themselves,” said Mr Bogle. “The creators of the app have put their heart and soul into it and we hope it really enriches the heart and soul of people who access it.” St Andrew’s Church has been one of Scotland’s leading ministries in digital/spiritual innovation. Sanctuary First, whose name is used for the app, are a multimedia company born out of a youth project set up at St Andrew’s in 2000. It now employs talented digital producers who create a vast array of content which is relevant to today’s world. They are the team behind the live online stream of the General Assembly and only last Sunday provided a stream for the Moderator’s visit to St Andrew’s Church as part of her visit to Falkirk Presbytery. The app will be in sync with content produced on their website. - See more at:

Special big Birthdays with thankyou letters

Tea in the Pink raised £539.

We would like to thank everyone who made Tea in the Pink last Saturday such a roaring success. Thanks to all those who supplied baking, provided sandwiches and decorations for the hall and tables or helped in any other way.

Thanks also to all those who entered into the spirit by wearing pink and a special thanks to the fourteen who didn’t wear pink but paid a forfeit.

The pastoral care group have still to discuss how the £539 raised will be spent.

Our thoughts are to try to do something for those members of the congregation who are no longer able to attend Church services or social occasions. We hope also to do something for those in Carnbroe Care Home.

Thanks again to all those who contributed to the success of Tea in the Pink.
